The Pioneer DVR-A07 Writer and the Ulead Software Suite Push the

Limits of DVD Technology To Let Consumers Easily

and Quickly Create Digital Media

Ulead Systems, Inc., a leading developer of video, image and DVD software, today announced a North American agreement with Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. to include Ulead's top consumer digital media software with the Pioneer DVR-A07, Pioneer's new multiple format "8x8" DVD/CD internal writer. The Ulead software suite provides consumers a complete set of rich and mature applications with advanced technology to easily and quickly transform videos into edited productions, create compelling DVD movies and photo slideshows, design eye-catching scrapbook pages, manage digital media files, and write data and music to disc. The Pioneer DVR-A07 lets consumers focus on their digital productions and not technology by saving time with the fastest write speeds possible and eliminating confusion over which media to use with support for both DVD-R/RW and +R/RW discs.

"The decision to continue bundling Ulead software with this latest version of our multi-format drive was clear," said Andy Parsons, senior vice president of industrial video & mass storage sales and marketing at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "Ulead offers a full gamut of easy-to-use, technologically advanced consumer software that was well-received when bundled with our A06 writer. Now with the A07, not only are our customers able to choose from an array of intuitive digital media software, but they will save precious time by writing DVD and CD discs as fast as recordable DVD technology allows."

The DVR-A07 is the world's first 8x8 dual format writer, meaning it is capable of writing at 8x speed on high-speed DVD-R and +R discs that are designed for this recording speed. The new drive also records high-speed DVD-RW and +RW discs at up to 4x speed, and CD-R and CD-RW discs at up to 24x speed. By supporting the DVD Forum's DVD-R and DVD-RW disc formats as well as the +R and +RW formats, Pioneer is helping to eliminate format confusion, which has become a growing problem for potential buyers.

Complementing Pioneer's support for all DVD media formats, DVD MovieFactory 3, Ulead's latest DVD creation software, which is included with the Pioneer DVR-A07 writer, supports all DVD Forum formats. The software's leading Disc-Direct(TM) technology matches the A07's blazing speed with the ability to capture and burn DVD-Video and DVD-VR formats in real-time directly to disc, without using the computer hard drive. At the same time, with DVD MovieFactory 3's on-disc editing tools, there is no faster or easier way to transform video memories into compelling DVD-Video productions that can be customized time and time again.

"We're pleased that Pioneer has again opted to include our software with the latest version of its multi-format drive," said Lewis Liaw, president of Ulead Systems, North America. "We are both committed to pushing the limits of technology to make it easier and faster for consumers to work with digital media. Whether video, photos or scrapbooking is your passion -- the Pioneer A07 with Ulead software offers tools for just about anyone who wants to express themselves digitally, without worrying about technology."
