Fed: Canberra plans declared national treasures by UN
The 1912 plans and drawings for Canberra by WALTER BURLEY GRIFFIN and MARION MAHONYGRIFFIN have today been included as national treasures on a United Nations register.
Former Labor minister BARRY JONES has announced that the drawings along with 17 landmarkAustralian constitutional documents have been included on UNESCO's register of Australia'smost important documents.
Mr JONES says the documents will now be added to the Memory of the World register.
Seven of the constitutional documents are on permanent display at the National Archivesin Canberra.
The others are in the care of various institutions including Parliament House and the High Court.
