Fed: Howard plays down need for MP's super reforms
CANBERRA, Feb 4 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard today played down the need to further
reform political superannuation schemes.
Mr Howard said the government had reformed the super scheme for federal politicians
to ensure payouts were not made until a departing MP reached retirement age.
Opposition Leader Mark Latham said he would shake-up parliamentary superannuation to
bring it into line with community standards.
He has signalled changes that would force MPs to become members of more conventional
super schemes.
