FED: National Gallery the big winner in federation grants

The Australian National Gallery is the big winner in the latest round of Centenary of
Federation funding grants announced today.

The gallery has received $500,000 from the National Council for the Centenary of Federation
to mount a centenary year exhibition of 100 Aboriginal and non-indigenous works reflecting
Australian visual art over a century.

The money forms part of $4 million worth of grants made available by the council under its
$10 million history and education program.

The program has been designed to increase knowledge and appreciation of Australia's
development since Federation in 1901.
